SCORE®, Counselors to America's Small Business, is a volunteer organization of business men and women, established in 1964 and sponsored by SBA to provide free counseling to small business firms and to individuals considering starting, purchasing or franchising new businesses. It also, upon request by SBA, evaluates management capabilities of loan applicants, offers management assistance4 to loan holders, and on occasion is asked to perform other management appraisal functions for the agency.
